Kinder Graduation

It was graduation day. Gemma was excited. I was excited.
We got up early to get all pretty. Curled our hair. Got ourselves dressed in our very best. Ate a quick breakfast. And headed to get Gemma to school by 8:00 am sharp.

We were late.
Gemma had to get a tardy slip for the first time EVER before heading to class.
But we were 40 minutes early for the actual graduation.

My mom came to show her love and support to her very first grandchild.
We LOVE when Grandma comes to town.

We found our seats. I got my camera ready. And we anxiously waited for Gemma and all the adorable kindergarteners to come out in their cap and gowns.

The famous graduation tune started playing. Every mom, dad, grandparent and friend stood.
And one by one they walked into the gym and onto the stage.
This incredible urge to cry wouldn't leave my chest and started working its way up into my throat.
Then we all said the Pledge of Allegiance with all those rock star kinder graduates and my eyes became wet.
I was completely surprised. No where in my mind did I think I would be emotional.
Totally blind sided.

After an adorable little ceremony, we took pictures, picked up her memory book and headed home for homemade pizzas, watermelon and cupcakes.
Gemma however requested salmon for her lunch. It is her favorite food after all. And I couldn't tell her no on her special day.

Gifts she received were Fancy Nancy books from grandma Winsor and Pokeman cards from me.

I can't wait to do this again next year. I think kindergarten for Bubba will be quite the experience.

Things I don't want to forget

It was kind of a rough morning today. Every morning is, really. But you and your brother just couldn't get along as I tried to get you all dressed and out the door for pre-school and park day. The car ride out was quit pleasant though. Thankfully.

As I pulled up in front of your school and helped you out of the car, for the first time ever, you were adamant about walking to your class ALL BY YOURSELF. As your mom, seeing you be so independent at the age of 4, I was totally broken hearted about it. Truth be told I don't want you to grow up. You are just too precious to me. All parents want their kids to grow up and be independent to take care of themselves and make good choices. And I love watching you learn and grow. But it's going to be bitter-sweet for me to see you grow into an independent, beautiful young lady whom I know without a doubt I will be so proud of.

You my dear sweet boy, say and do some of the cutest and funniest things. Just out of know where. As we drove your sister to school, the radio played, "Bringing Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake. In part of the song it says, "Are you ready?" Every time that was sung, you would reply, "I'm ready!" You couldn't see it, but I had the biggest smile. I love you for all the cute things you don't even realize you do.

As evening rolled around, the two of you helped me water the plants, and you Gemma girl, had the genius idea to sing to our flowers to help them grow. And you know what? I think it worked. I love you for your sweet and thoughtful acts you share with others. Always concerned for someone else. My heart melts with how amazing you and bubba are. I am one blessed momma.

Sundays are Sweetest

You came into my room like you always do after you wake from a nap. Found me still sleeping, where you fussed wanting me to wake. Your sister was out cold and my head was still aching. I could see in your eyes that you'd go back to sleep if I could coax you into bed with me. You climbed in, snuggled in next to me and you were out. As was I. With every move you made I would wake, as mothers often do. I rolled into you and nestled my face into your neck loving this very moment.

You moved again cradling your arm around my face, hand on my cheek, still asleep. And you stayed that way always making sure you were touching me with every restless move you made. I was in love. Completely content.

Then you, my dearest Gem, woke and came crawling in next to me. Though from that moment we woke and never went back to sleep. We laid there, all 3 of us for a brief moment and I, well I was the happiest I had been all week.

Oh my dearest darlings. How much I love you both. Never wavering, always growing.

I live and breathe each and every day for you.

I LOVE YOU

She's 4

I've never been this elaborate about my kids birthday parties. (Not that this is exactly elaborate.) But Gemma was so excited about her birthday coming up and having a purple horse party that I had to do something.
It felt like such a daunting task especially since I had and still have a HORRENDOUS case of all day morning sickness. It all got done though, right up to the very last minute. Literally.

Made the cake, banner, and all refreshments minus the cupcakes. Thinking back on it makes me feel overwhelmed.

Happy birthday Gem-bell! I hope your wishes come true.

Making these was so much fun but tracing and cutting the pieces out was annoying and totally cramped up my hands.

It was fun but so glad its over. ;)

The little things

It was General Conference this past weekend. I always look forward to it, though I still need to watch saturdays sessions still. Don't know what Im talking about? Click up in my header, the button "I believe".

Felt inspired to acknowledge the little things in my life. I've been trying too hard to keep up with all the crafty, well kept homes, good behaved children, super moms out there that I found myself complaining and feeling ungrateful.

So, to the little things in life. Because after all, they're the only things that really matter.

I let Gemma paint her toes BY HERSELF for the first time during Sundays conference session. She was very excited.

Licking the bowl after making up some brownies. They have taken over my very favorite part.

Remember the little things. What are some of yours?

Field Trip

Gemma had her first Pre-School field trip to the local fire department, obviously. I was really excited for her. Probably more so than she was. Mr. S says it's because I was looking forward to seeing hot firemen. (maybe that's partly true)

Did I ever tell you that every girls fantasy about firefighters actually happened to me?! I left for my lunch break at the Bank of America building in Mesa, Az. I waited for the elevator on the 12th floor and when it opened, and I looked up from staring down, it was packed with GORGEOUS men in uniform. I froze and turned a little red trying really hard to keep my cool. They all looked at me and chuckled as if they knew this was a fantasy come true. They let me squeeze on in with them and I rode the entire way down with no stops. (Gasp, I can barely breath just reminiscing about it) True story ladies. True story.

Anywho......  I loved every minute seeing her interact with her class mates and act so grown up. Wish I could get her to act better for me at home but I'll blame that on her brother the tormentor. :)

Gem's class. Thanks Bro. Neeley for the tour.
